Frequently Asked Questions

How does the roll actually work?

Tap Roll. Two dice roll for real, the light sweeps around the table and settles on a seat — that's East, the dealer, for this hand. A tile then lights up in one of the four walls (not always the dealer's own) with a small arrow showing which way to push that stack into play. Start dealing from that exact tile.

What's the difference between "Next Dealer" and "East Retains"?

Next Dealer passes the deal to the next seat counterclockwise, the normal case after a hand ends. East Retains is for when East wins and stays dealer — seating doesn't change, but you still need a fresh roll for the new wall break, which is what this button gives you.

Why doesn't the app save my last roll?

Each roll is meant to represent a single hand in progress. When you reopen the app, it's ready for a fresh roll rather than showing you stale results from your last game.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes — the entire app runs on your device with no network calls at all. It works exactly the same in airplane mode.

How do I change the table theme?

Tap the menu icon in the top-left corner and choose a theme under "Table Theme." Your choice is remembered automatically the next time you open the app.

Is this useful for American mahjong too, or just traditional/Chinese rules?

The dealer selection, dice roll, and wall-break mechanics follow traditional conventions (counterclockwise seating, wall-break counting). It's a general-purpose table tool rather than a rules engine for any one specific variant.
